STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Lillie Mae King
Where do you go to school? What grade are you in?
I am homeschooled and in second grade.
Do you remember your first ballet class? What was it like?
I had just turned five years old when I took my first ballet class at Ketchikan Theatre Ballet in Alaska. My teacher began the class with all of us in a circle doing warm up stretches while reciting nursery rhymes. I loved free dance time at the end of class and all of the fun music my teacher played. I really liked when she brought ribbons for us to dance with.
What brought you to Classical Ballet of Mobile?
My mom happened to come across Classical Ballet of Mobile online while searching for ballet studios in the Mobile area shortly after we moved here. She was searching for classically focused training (non-competition) with a family-friendly atmosphere similar to what we had experienced in Ketchikan. Classical Ballet of Mobile has been a perfect fit for our family!
What has been your favorite part of dancing Classical Ballet of Mobile?
I love to dance in the performances.
What's the hardest part about ballet?
It is hard to choose just one part because a lot of ballet is hard, but it is a good challenge. Doing splits are one of the hardest parts of ballet for me.
What's your favorite ballet?
The Nutcracker is my favorite ballet so far, but there are many ballets I still want to see for the first time.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I would like to be an artist. I love to draw, paint and make crafts. I love to dance too!
