Ballet 5

Students at the Ballet 5 level have displayed achievement of strength, balance and flexibility. Dancing en pointe is not a requirement for the ladies of Ballet 5, but some Company members* may be present in this class level.

Classical Ballet of Mobile offers strengthening class for Ballet 5 students, plus jazz classes, recommending that most dancers in this division take at least 5 classes each week. Though other classes are optional, please make sure your Level 5 dancer begins with the required Tuesday Ballet 5 Pointe class. Classes are “required” for rehearsal scheduling purposes when casting for performances.

 
 

Technique, Pointe & Jazz

Ballet 5 is admitted to multiple technique and pointe classes to reinforce proper alignment, continued strengthening of the lower body, and command of the body on and off pointe. Plus - dancers are invited to join Musical Theatre/Jazz classes to complement their classical regimen.

Remember that Tuesday Pointe is required for Level 5 dancers.

COMPANY CLASS

*Company Members are required to attend our weekly Company Class MONDAY 4:45-6:45 p.m. Please register in advance.

EXTRA CLASSES

To prepare dancers for peak physical fitness to perform, we highly recommend cross-training with our Stretch & Extensions class on Tuesdays to refine specific skills like flexibility, extension, balance and more. And our Saturday Intermediate/Advanced Ballet class for pointe/technique is ideal to sustain peak conditioning for the season.

BALLET

  • Black Leotard: Black princess-seamed camisole leotard available through Classical Ballet of Mobile with CBM logo

  • Baby Blue Belt: 3/4” Adjustable Belt available through Classical Ballet of Mobile to help ballet instructors view body alignment in technique classes

  • Pink Tights: convertible tights by CAPEZIO or BODY WRAPPERS (seamless for performance)

  • Ballet Slippers: pink canvas split-sole ballet slippers

  • Pre-Pointe Shoes: to be gifted by a Company Member (no need to purchase pre-pointe shoes)

  • First-Year Pointe Shoes: to be selected with Faculty supervision at the invitation of CBM Faculty

  • Existing Pointe Shoes: Pink satin

  • Extra Pointe Shoes: Skin-toned satin/canvas

  • Extra Skirt: Black Milliskin skirt matching our uniform leotards available (but not required) through Classical Ballet of Mobile

  • Nude jazz shoes
